RIP: Globacom Manager Tayo Smith Commits Suicide In Ibadan

What kind of frustration could he be getting from his boss to lead him committing suicide? Did he not apply for the job, why didn't he resign?

The Challenge, Ibadan office of Globacom Nigeria Limited, Nigeria’s second National Telephone Operator is currently permeated by uneasy calm following the death of Tayo Smith, one of the Area Marketing Managers of the company. 

According to Street Journal, Smith committed suicide last Saturday [Sep 1], leaving a note in which he apologized to his wife and children. It is also being speculated that the deceased blamed his action on his boss who he claimed was frustrating him.

Though Tayo Smith’s colleagues are keeping mum about the incident and no one wants to be quoted, there are insinuations that there is more to the suicide than is being said. People have started wondering how anyone would commit suicide due to frustration from a boss when there is an option of quitting the job.

One other suspicion that has been raised by the supposed suicide note borders on the condition under which it was written. Some people have drawn an inference that the deceased might have been compelled to write the note to make it look like suicide while what happened was probably a case of homicide. There have also been suggestions that he might have been in on some top rated secrets or deals which probably led to what is being termed “arranged suicide” by some.

Though no member of staff of Glo in Challenge has denied the story, none wants to say a word. Everyone is keeping mum and when calls were placed to the Public Relations Department at the Head Office, those who answered claimed to have been transferred to the Northern part of the country.

I Cannot Do Without Sex Daily - 10 Year Old Nigerian Girl

What are we doing to our children especially the girls? How can a girl of 10 be a sex addict? How could any sane person have sex with a 7 year old? Only God knows what demon has taken over this young girl. I weep for her and for all the children being abused.

The girl (10), is shockingly addicted to sex that she complains that she cannot live in a day without being made love to. She was sexually abused by people living around her in Mile 12, Lagos at the early age of 7.

The abuses now lead her to be insatiable and demands for sex regularly and cannot control her desire for it.
"I cannot do without having sex with different kind of men daily, irrespective of who they are or where they are from". The victim who is still a primary school pupil said if she did not see any man to have sex with her in her area, she would go to a popular under bridge at Mile 12 Lagos and beg for sex from touts.

She said she came from Enugu state to Lagos to live with her aunt after the death of her father.

Her case has become so serious that she had to be referred to an NGO, Community Health Support and Empowerment Initiative, COHSAEI, which has taken up the challenge to rehabilitate her.

The little girl said she was lured into sex by a man she called Baba who lived with her aunt in the same compound. She said the man (Baba) usually called her to his apartment whenever his wife and her aunt were not around and will put his finger inside her private part.

“He will tell me to come back home immediately our school closes and when I reach home he will be waiting for me to finger my vagina”, she narrated.

She said with time he started having real sex with her.She said when the man that initiated her into it moved out of their area, she resorted to meeting other men in the area without her aunt knowing. The girl said she has become addicted to sex and cannot do without it.

“When I desire sex and I do not see anybody to do it in my area, I will go under the bridge and beg the touts to do it for me”, she said.

Her predicament came when she confessed to her teacher what she was going through after the teacher noticed some abnormal behaviour in her. The teacher contacted her aunt who contacted an NGO for assistance.

The programme coordinator of the NGO, Mrs. Priscilla Ingbia, noted that her case was very pathetic because of her age. She said her group took up the challenge to rehabilitate her because it was clear if nothing was done urgently her future was in danger.

Ingbia said her organisation has started the process of rehabilitating her by carrying out series of tests on her to ascertain her health conditions. She stressed the urgent need to relocate her from her present environment and start a new life for her. She said her organisation has not been able to do so because of the financial cost of doing so.
